The Internet VoIP Gateway PCB routes calls over the Internet or a private intranet. The
built-in H.323 gateway supports tie-lines between branch offices and other office
locations. For example, Internet/intranet calls can be placed from or to the Strata CS
desktop via an IP telephone or analog set through the gateway to a remote IP telephone,
NetMeeting PC, or another Strata CS system. It can also be set up to allow your customers
to call you from a web page.
VoIP Trunk Interface: The Strata CS Communication Server supports simultaneous voice and
data transmission over the same IP network by installing Intel Dialogic telephony boards
in the server. Sending Strata CS calls over the Internet or your private TCP/IP network
does not require any telephone company trunks. The Intel Dialogic Internet telephony
boards connect directly to your network, and access the Internet over your companys
normal Internet or TCP/IP network connection. The Internet telephony interfaces support
Internet Protocol (IP) calls via the integrated gateway function. No external equipment is
required.
VoIP interface boards are available in the following versions:
12-port IP PCI card with NIC
24-port IP PCI card with NIC
IP Telephone Interface: The Strata CS supports remote telephone applications using Uniden
and Polycom H.323 version 2 compliant IP telephones. Other H.323 v2 IP telephones may work
with the Strata CS. However, the Uniden UIP300 and Polycom SoundPoint are the only IP
telephones certified by Toshiba to work seamlessly with the Strata CS Communication
Server. Toshiba has found the Uniden UIP300 and Polycom SoundPoint to be the best IP
telephones available today, providing a large digital display screen, four
context-sensitive soft keys, feature keys pre-programmed for use with the Strata CS,
individual controls for speakerphone, handset, headset, and a mute button.
IP telephones are connected to the Strata CS via your existing IP data network or the
public Internet. Simultaneous IP telephone conversations are supported by 4-port, 8-port,
or 24-port IP Gateway cards installed in the Strata CS server.
This enables remote workers to have seamless access to your main locations telephone
system and voice mail system. Remote employees have transparent access to the same
capabilities as if they were locally connected to the Strata CS system.
Multiple System Networking: The Strata CS integrated Internet gateway can be configured to
connect multiple Strata CS systems over the Internet or a private IP network in a unified
environment. By creating virtual gateway users on each server, all users appear to be
local and from the users perspective, the two Servers become a single Strata CS
site.
When multiple Strata CS systems are configured this way, an Internet tie line is created
enabling users do the following:
Dial any users extension directly, without an access code. Users on either server
can dial each other directly, or select extensions for call forwarding and routing lists
regardless of whether they are local or remote. In addition to calling extensions, users
can dial # to log in and check remote voice mailboxes, or 411 for the remote Servers
dial-by-name directory.
Local and remote users appear together in the Clients Users view, Place Call window,
and other user lists.
Select any user when placing a call, transferring a call or creating a conference call.
Search for any user in the dial-by-name directory.
Forward calls to any extension, or include any extension in a routing list.
Place external phone calls through the remote server. Users can call remote phone numbers
as if they were local phone numbers, such as calling directory assistance in another city.
Place outbound Centrex/PBX calls through the remote server. Users can dial remote
Centrex/PBX extensions as if they were local, such as extensions on a legacy PBX system
connected to the remote server.
Enhance Your Web Page with a Call Us! button: By using a CallTo: URL on your
Web page, any Internet user with NetMeeting installed can click on a Call Us
link on your page to place a call to any Strata CS DID number. If you assign a DID number
to a Strata CS ACD queue user, you can send Internet users directly into your ACD queue
for processing by an ACD agent.
